Closed Beta 2 Patch Notes

We've had a few months to improve and refine MapleStory 2, and Maple World's gone through a few changes since the first Closed Beta. Take a look at the full list of changes and fixes below, and once again thank you to all of our Beta Testers for helping us refine MapleStory 2!

Monetization

  • The Meret Market is now available for testing
    • Please note that prices and content are not final.
    • You can use the Merets given from the Attendance Check event to purchase various appearance items.
    • You can purchase various items from the Premium Shop.
    • In the Design Shop, you can either sell items made via Maple Workshop or buy items designed by other players.

Control Presets and Gamepad Improvements

  • The following changes were made to Mouse and Keyboard controls:
    • When moving on ladders with the mouse, you can now move quickly by jumping.
    • Pressing the W and S keys during Build Mode in your house will only control the height.
    • The Control Presets on the top left bar of the screen will change to the icon of the controls you selected.
  • The following changes were made to Gamepad controls:
    • When moving with the analog stick, you can walk or run depending on the angle of the stick.
    • When Gamepad is ON at the top bar, you will be asked to search for a gamepad if there is none connected.
    • The correct controls for the gamepad will appear in the following situations:
      • A button appears when the fishing mini-game triggers during manual fishing.
      • A button appears in various situations where videos and cutscenes can be skipped.
    • The Controls process in the Unknown Location after creating a character has been improved as follows:
      • When an Xbox Controller is connected, you will be asked whether you want to use it.
      • When a DUALSHOCK®4 is connected, you will be asked whether you want to use it.
      • You will be notified that gamepad is supported even if none is connected.
    • "Display Quickslot Skill Name" added to Options > Controls > Gamepad Settings.
    • When the Quickslot Bar is changed in Options > Controls > Gamepad Controls, the change will be shown on the quickslot.
    • When you reset the gamepad key bindings in Options > Controls, only the key bindings of the connected gamepad will be reset.
    • The gamepad's Up, Down, Left, and Right key bindings in Options > Controls > Actions can no longer be changed to other keys except for the analog stick.
    • The Quickslot Bar's letters couldn't be seen in certain situations but has been resolved.
  • The following Mouse and Keyboard bugs have been fixed:
    • Fixed issue where key binding on the Shift key gets removed when entering or exiting a dungeon.
    • Fixed issue where character could move when mouse is used while the focus is on another Windows program and not the game in Windowed mode.
  • The following Gamepad bugs have been fixed:
    • Fixed issue where the default keys might not get selected when existing character uses the gamepad.
    • When the key value is left empty for Shortcuts in Options > Controls and you close it without saving, the key won't get changed but keep the previous key.
    • Fixed issue where you can gather forever when either the "RB" or "R1" key is set to Action in Options > Controls > Actions and that key is pressed repeatedly.
    • Fixed issue where it wouldn't function properly when the Quickslot Bar is changed to either the "RB" or "R1" key in Options > Controls > Gamepad Controls.
    • Fixed issue where the Quickslot UI looked awkward when mounted on something or transformed.
    • Fixed issue where the gamepad button prompts were different from the connected gamepad, such as when a DUALSHOCK®4 was connected but an Xbox Controller button prompt was shown.
    • When the gamepad type is changed in the middle of the game, such as changing to an Xbox Controller from DUALSHOCK®4, turning the Use Gamepad button at the top left bar of the screen to OFF and then back to ON will recognize the changed gamepad.
    • Fixed issue where the window closed when a space is entered in character icon > Character > Set Motto using a gamepad.
    • Fixed issue where character moved when the Chat window is enabled using a gamepad.
    • Fixed issue where character could move when analog stick is used while the focus is on another Windows program and not the game in Windowed mode.
    • Fixed issue where Quickslot 3 couldn't be seen or used.

Quest and Trophy

  • Some cutscenes that couldn't be skipped can be skipped now.
  • Fixed some awkward cutscenes, where a scene ended but did not progress to player control or the next scene for an abnormally long time.
  • It's now hard to reach Lv. 50 doing epic quests alone. You will need to enjoy other contents that give you experience as well such as world quests and mini-games. A function has been added to the quest notification window on the right of the screen to show the next available epic quest that can be accepted or can't be accepted because you don't meet the level requirement.
  • A total of 170 world quests in a level range from Lv. 11 – 46 have been added.
  • Exploration goals of some maps have changed to be more interesting.
  • Number of trophies that either give skill points or attribute points as rewards for completing the goals has increased.
  • New rewards such as color palette and title can be obtained from 30 trophies.
  • Some ground mounts sold in Mount Shops now have purchase requirements where you need to get a specific trophy to purchase them.
  • When you mouseover such things like Shop, Beauty Salon, and Emote that have trophy requirements, the trophy name and trophy objective will be displayed.

Dungeon

  • You can enjoy a new hard adventure dungeon.
    • Temple of Immortals
  • You can enjoy a new chaos raid dungeon.
    • Shadow Altar: Nothing can be bought from Taroz's shop in the Hall of Heroes with the Chaotic Simcoin obtained during CB2. Thus, Spirit Spellstones and Spirit Guardstones have been added temporarily.
  • You can enjoy the Treasure Dungeon starting at Lv. 50.
  • You can enjoy Dark Descent starting at Lv. 50.
  • Adventure Dungeon: Name changed to normal adventure dungeon. Difficulty of boss monster in normal adventure dungeon has been adjusted to be more challenging than CB1. Try forming a party if it's hard to solo!
  • Raid Dungeon: Name changed to "Hard Adventure Dungeon". The recommended number of people was adjusted from 10 to 4. The monster's health in the hard adventure dungeon is not scaled based on the number of people just like how it was previously in the raid dungeon. That is why it is recommended that 4 people play together. It will be easier to clear the dungeon when playing with certain jobs. Each dungeon's rank mission objectives have been adjusted to match 4 people.

Enchant

  • You can enchant up to +15.
  • You can now enchant hats, gloves, and shoes as well.
  • The following changes were made to Ophelia's enchantment:
    • The same gear is required starting from +10 → +11. You can use the same gear when enchanting to increase the success rate up to 30%.
    • The success rate for some enchantment tiers has been adjusted.
      • +0 → +1: Before 100%, After 100%
      • +1 → +2: Before 100%, After 100%
      • +2 → +3: Before 100%, After 100%
      • +3 → +4: Before 90%, After 95%
      • +4 → +5: Before 81%, After 90%
      • +5 → +6: Before 72%, After 80%
      • +6 → +7: Before 63%, After 70%
      • +7 → +8: Before 55%, After 60%
      • +8 → +9: Before 40%, After 50%
      • +9 → +10: Before 29%, After 40%
      • +10 → +11: Before 22%, After 30%
      • +11 → +12: Before 19%, After 20%
      • +12 → +13: Before 16%, After 15%
      • +13 → +14: Before 13%, After 10%
      • +14 → +15: Before 10%, After 5%
    • The gear that failed the enchant will accrue enchantment charges. You can use enchantment charges when enchanting to increase the success rate up to 100%.
    • Relevant loading tips have changed with the enchant revamp.
  • Inventory > Enchant > Peachy Enchant is now available, and you can obtain Crystal Fragment in the game.
  • Lifestyle > Life Skills > Enchants added.
  • Enchant scroll rewards have been removed from some epic quests and dungeon bonus box.

Combat Pet

  • Combat Pets have been added. At Lv. 50, you can capture a pet, fight alongside it, and grow with it.
  • There are two types of pets: Companion pets and Combat pets. Companion pets are docile and don't have combat abilities, but they will have pet bag. Combat pets will have combat abilities and can level up.
  • Lv. 50 Players can tame hungry monsters in the field and make them into combat pets.
    • You can purchase Dryad Pet Candy, which is used to tame monsters, from each town's Merchant.
    • The Snare used to catch the tamed monsters can be crafted in Lifestyle > Life Skills > Leisure > Pet Taming.
    • You can capture a Combat Pet via the following method:
      • You will find "Hungry" monsters around the field. You can only capture "Hungry" monsters.
      • The monsters that can be captured will be displayed as a sky blue dot in the mini-map, making them easier to be spotted.
      • When you use a "Dryad Pet Candy " on a "Hungry" monster you want to capture, the Fondness gauge will be displayed above the "Hungry" monster's head, and the border will be displayed around the "Hungry" monster's body. You need to be at least Lv. 50 to use Dryad Pet Candy.
      • The border around the "Hungry" monster's body will be displayed in green, yellow, or red. Depending on the color, the pet's rank or capturing difficulty will vary.
      • When you use "Dryad Pet Candy" multiple times to max out the fondness gauge, the "Hungry" monster stops acting weary and becomes "Docile" monster. You can use Dryad Snare near the "Docile" monster to capture a combat pet. You need to be at least Lv. 50 to use "Dryad Snare".
      • If you do not use "Dryad Pet Candy" within a set time, the Fondness decreases again.
      • When the fondness is not max, and there is a Dryad Snare near "Hungry" monster, the "Hungry" monster may destroy "Dryad Snare."
      • Depending on the capturing difficulty and the kind of Snare used to capture the monster, the probability to get Combat pet with certain rank will vary.
    • You can also capture a combat pet with Lapis Master Snare that can be obtained from a Mission Power Up Box, which is a reward for Daily Missions – Toughen Up.
    • Search every corner in the Maple World to find the monsters you can capture!
  • Pet Capturing skill is added to Lifestyle > Life Skills > Leisure.
    • Lv. 50 Players can craft and use the Snare that is used to tame combat pets.
    • There is a daily maximum quantity restriction for crafting Snare.
    • You can craft Dryad G1 - G3 Snares. Snare with higher rank is more likely to capture a combat pet with higher rank.
    • You can get mastery completion reward for reaching a certain level of Capture mastery.
  • You can grow "Mysterious Meteorite Tree" in Lifestyle > Life Skills > Gathering > Farming.
    • In your house's Build Mode, you can place "Mysterious Meteorite Tree" from the "Life Skill Material" category.
    • You can obtain "Earth Fragment" from the "Mysterious Meteorite Tree".
    • "Earth Fragment" is used as a material needed to create Snare, which is used to capture pets.
  • You can obtain boss pets in Hard Adventure Dungeon and Chaos Raid Dungeon.
  • Combat pets have ranks.
    • Combat pet with higher rank will have higher pet combat power.
    • Combat pet with higher rank requires more experience to level up, therefore requires more effort.
    • Combat pet with higher rank has more bonus talents.
    • Combat pet's bonus talents are activated when the pet's level reaches a certain number.
  • You can summon the tamed combat pet for it to fight and grow with you.
    • Pet tab will be added to the inventory.
    • You can double-click the desired pet in Inventory > Pets to summon it. You need to be Lv. 50 or higher to summon a combat.
    • You can check the currently summoned pet's information in character icon > Pets > Info. You can change its name for free once.
    • The summoned combat pet will follow its master and fight with them. While summoned, the combat pet's talents and bonus talents will be activated.
    • Every time your character earns experience, the summoned combat pet will receive experience to level up as well.
    • When a combat pet levels up, its talents increase. When it reaches a certain level, its bonus talents will be activated.
    • The increase in talents and its max from leveling up varies based on the pet's potential.
    • Every pet has convenient functions such as auto-revive, auto-potion, and auto-loot.
  • You can fuse combat pets to level them up.
    • You can use pets in character icon > Pets > Fusion.
    • Only combat pets can be fused. When you fuse a combat pat to the desired combat pet, the combat pet used as a material disappears. As a result, the remaining pet will gain experience to level up.
    • Fusing a combat pet with higher level and rank will increase the experience gained from the fusion.
    • All combat pets can level up to Lv. 50. Once a combat pet reaches Lv. 50, it can no longer fuse.
    • When you fuse a pet to level it up, it can level up even faster by receiving bonus experience. Bonus experience is applied for the first 24 fusions of each day, per character.
  • You can check Pet Collection Progress in Pet Album.
    • You can check the pets you have collected from character icon > Pets > Album.
    • Any pet you summoned from Inventory > Pets at least once after capturing it will automatically be added to the Pet Album.
    • You can also check pet type, highest rank of the collected pets, character level that allows summoning, and capturable habitat in the Pet Album.
    • Pet Album's rank will display the highest rank of the summoned pet so far.
    • Some pets, such as companion pets, are not displayed in the album before you obtain it. They will be newly added when summoned.
  • You can change combat pet's talents.
    • You can change the bonus talents of pets that are exceptional or higher via character icon > Pets > Change Talents.
    • Green Crystal, Crystal Fragment, and Metacell is needed to change a pet's bonus talents.
    • The more often you change a pet's bonus talents, the more materials needed to change the pet's bonus talents.
    • Changing a pet's bonus talents will bind that pet to the character. So be careful!
  • The following categories are added to Lifestyle > Black Market.

    • Capture Tools
  • New Trophies can be achieved.
    • Humble Trainer

  • You can get new titles as Trophy rewards.

Other

  • Login illustration and background music changed.
  • Rewards from the following events will be distributed during Closed Beta 2:
    • Road Trip to Closed Beta
    • Beta Challenge Event
    • Closed Beta 1 Participation Hat

  • German language is now supported.
    • Please note that the localization for German is not yet fully polished, and some inaccurate German phrasing and English text may still be present.
  • You can check the region you are currently logged in to from the character information window.
  • Black Market handling fees changed to 10%.
  • Meso handling fees for 1:1 trade changed to 20%.
  • Some outfit designs have been changed.
  • Prestige Perks that can be obtained via leveling up were added.
    • When your Prestige Rank becomes 25, you can learn Prestige Perk "Increase Meso earned by selling items to shops".
    • The effect of this perk increases whenever the Prestige Rank reaches 25, and every 50 ranks thereafter (75, 125, etc) up to 975
  • Now it is easier for you to know how to get out of the map after completing a Maple Guide.
  • We fixed some content where it was too easy to defeat monsters because you could attack monsters in a safe place or because you were not attacked in a certain location, etc.
  • Fixed the issue where some items could not be linked to the chat window.
